URGENT: Candy Donations Needed
The Nye County School District Transportation Department would like to share an important reminder regarding afternoon bus drop-offs for elementary students.

Today, our bus drivers and transportation dispatch are experiencing an increased volume of calls regarding elementary students who are not met at their designated bus stops.

Please review the following safety procedures:
Bus Stop Pick-Up Requirements: Kindergarten students, as well as students whose parents have specifically requested required stop hand-offs, must be met at the bus stop by a parent, guardian, or designated adult.
Unmet Bus Stops: If a parent or guardian is not present at the bus stop, drivers attempt contact to make a return pass. If contact cannot be established, the student is safely returned to their elementary school's main office prior to the secondary (middle and high school) bus routes beginning.
Student Pick-Up: If your child is returned to their school, please make arrangements to pick them up from the school office as soon as possible.

We deeply appreciate your partnership and commitment to keeping our students safe during dismissal. If you have questions regarding your student's bus schedule or stop arrangements, please contact the Transportation Department or your school's front office

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to inform you of a situation involving Bus 9. The bus is running late because during the bus route, a student experienced breathing issues, causing the bus driver to pull over safely to assist.

First responders were contacted immediately, and an ambulance was dispatched to provide medical care. Please be assured that the emergency contact of the student involved has been notified, and all possible attempts are being made to reach the parents. At no time were the other students on the bus in any danger, and all other students remain safe.

The safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority. We appreciate the quick response of our transportation staff and emergency medical personnel.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Reminder: Candy Donations Needed

We are in desperate need of more candy to pass out to all 535 Manse students during our Annual Trunk or Treat. Our goal is to hand out handfuls of candy at each trunk. Currently we do not have enough candy to make it through all grade levels. Help us send all of our students home with a not so Healthy Haul of Halloween candy!

Send all candy donations to the MES office.

Your voice and lived experiences make a meaningful difference in the education of our children!

The Nevada Department of Education is inviting families of students receiving special education services to participate in a family focus group. While this survey and focus group initiative is organized at the state level through Sigma Associates rather than directly by Nye County School District, the insights shared by our families will directly help shape special education support, resources, and communication across all Nevada school districts.

The focus groups offer a welcoming space to share what helps you feel informed, respected, and involved, as well as to review Nevada's family survey to ensure it reflects what truly matters to our families. Participation is entirely voluntary and confidential—all feedback is summarized without identifying you, your child, or your school.

Please consider taking a few moments to sign up and help guide the future of special education across our communities:
👉 Sign-up link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PK2RVPL

If you have questions about the focus group, you can contact Sigma Associates Incorporated at info@sigmaevaluation.com or the Nevada Department of Education at specialeducation@doe.nv.gov.

Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to our students!

Important Safety Message Regarding Rosemary Clarke Middle School

Dear Families and Community,

We are writing to address rumors currently circulating on social media regarding a potential safety threat at Rosemary Clarke Middle School scheduled for tomorrow.

Please be assured that the safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priorities. As soon as we were made aware of these social media posts, school administration immediately partnered with the Nye County Sheriff's Office to conduct a thorough investigation. Deputies thoroughly evaluated the online posts, conducted student interviews, and completed home visits.

Following this comprehensive investigation, law enforcement confirmed that there is no evidence supporting any threat to our campus. The rumors are unfounded, and school will proceed on its normal schedule tomorrow with full confidence in our campus safety. In an abundance of caution, the sheriff's department will increase the police presence at the school and in the area.

We want to thank the individuals who alerted us to these posts. This situation serves as a valuable reminder of the importance of our "See Something, Say Something" practice. We also encourage our school community to report concerns directly to administration or law enforcement rather than sharing unverified rumors on social media, which can cause unnecessary fear.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership in keeping our students safe.

Sincerely,
April Sutton
Principal, Rosemary Clarke Middle School

RE: School & District Investigation Process Clarification

The Nye County School District (NCSD) emphasizes the following facts and guidelines regarding investigations:

The district investigates every report and accusation made regarding student or staff concerns.

While we understand the community's desire for full transparency in every situation, federal and state privacy mandates strictly protect student records and employee personnel files; as a result, specific investigative findings, student and/or personnel outcomes, disciplinary actions, and evidentiary details cannot be disclosed to complainants, parents, or the public.

During an investigation, out of an abundance of caution, we may remove students from the classroom and place employees on administrative leave; however, we work under the same fundamental principle as our legal system: Every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The safety, security, and well-being of our students across all Nye County communities remain our highest priorities. We strongly encourage parents, staff, and community members to refrain from engaging in or spreading unverified rumors, particularly across social media channels. The dissemination of speculation can hamper official investigations and cause unnecessary distress.

Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have initiated a "Stay-Put" protocol to keep our hallways clear while Emergency Medical Services (EMTs) assist a student needing additional medical support in the nurse's office. Please be assured that the parents of the student involved have already been notified. All other students remain safe in their classrooms, and normal instruction is continuing.

During a Stay-Put protocol, outside activities are brought inside, exterior doors are locked, and hallway traffic is minimized to allow emergency responders clear and direct access. No outside visitors are permitted into the building while the protocol is active.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our school parking lot and hallways clear so our emergency responders can work effectively. We will notify you as soon as the medical situation is cleared and the Stay-Put protocol has been lifted.

Sincerely,
Samantha Moore Principal, Manse Elementary School
