Dear Parents and Guardians,
The safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priorities. I am writing to inform you that J.G. Johnson Elementary, Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS), Mt. Charleston Elementary, and Pathways Innovative Education have all been placed on a precautionary LOCKDOWN protocol at the request of the Nye County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).
The Sheriff’s Office requested this protocol while addressing an incident report. Please be assured that this situation is ongoing, but all students and staff are safe and secure inside their respective school buildings.
During a Lockdown procedure, regular classroom activities pause, all exterior and interior doors are locked, and hallway traffic is restricted so emergency response personnel can effectively manage the surrounding neighborhood. No entry or exit from any of the affected campuses is permitted at this time. Please do not attempt to travel to any of the school sites, as access is strictly restricted for everyone's safety.
We are in constant communication with law enforcement and will send an update as soon as the Sheriff's Office clears the area and lifts the protocol. Thank you for your patience, trust, and cooperation as we keep our schools safe.
Sincerely,
School Administration & District Leadership

The safety and well-being of our school community is always our top priority. I am writing to provide you with accurate information regarding the presence of emergency vehicles on our campus during dismissal today.
A staff member experienced a medical concern during the dismissal process. Emergency responders were called to campus to provide assistance to our colleague.
I want to clarify that no students were involved or in any danger, and our dismissal process was completed safely and on schedule. No emergency safety protocols were required for this situation.
We thank you for your support and for respecting the privacy of our staff member.
Sincerely,
Kerri Lynch
Assistant Principal, J.G. Johnson Elementary School

We are writing to inform you that J.G. Johnson Elementary School is currently experiencing a power outage. Please be assured that all students and staff are safe, and our maintenance and operations teams are working diligently to resolve the issue as quickly as possible with VEA.
Important Communication and Dismissal Information:
Phone Lines: Due to the outage, the school’s phone lines are currently down. All incoming calls to Johnson Elementary are being rerouted to the District Office.
Dismissal: School dismissal will proceed as scheduled. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we manage this situation just prior to the end of the school day.
We understand that unexpected disruptions like this can be concerning, especially so close to dismissal, and we thank you for your continued support of our J.G. Johnson community.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Sincerely,
Sylvia DeMasi
Johnson Elementary, Principal.

The safety of our students is our highest priority. We are writing to provide accurate information regarding a safety report investigated by school and district leadership in coordination with the Sheriff’s Department.
Recently, a report was made through SafeVoice regarding a potential threat. We immediately partnered with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Office of Emergency Management to investigate. Experts have determined that this was a "swatting" attempt, a hoax designed to cause disruption, which has affected numerous schools in Nevada today with identical messages.
The situation is resolved, and our campus is safe for school to proceed normally. There will be an increased law enforcement presence on campus throughout the day to provide extra support and peace of mind for our students and staff.
We are grateful for the systems that allow for quick reporting and for the swift action of our local law enforcement.
Sincerely,
Desiree Veloz, Principal
Robert Williams, Communications Officer
